10 Days Out (Blues from the Backroads)/ (CD/DVD)
Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s reverence for his musical roots are center-stage on Ten Days Out…Blues From The Backroads, a CD+DVD package that features the guitarslinger and Double Trouble rhythm section of bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton performing with some of the greatest blues players of our time as well as lesser-known but historically significant bluesmen. Traveling to their hometowns to record everywhere from juke joints to front porches, from New Orleans to Kansas, Shepherd celebrates and becomes part of blues history with Ten Days Out…Blues From The Backroads. Customer Review: Sublime Blues Anthology……………………………….. This is far and away the best blues documentary ever made, and I have seen many. I loved Cootie Stark, and would like to have known him. A true genius. All of the artists reached me in a very deep way, and it was clear that the project was from the hearts of those who created it. The blues makes usfeel good about feeling bad. When we listen to these old blues hands, it is like somebody else knows and understands what we are feeling. And they help us feel it. In my opinion, Ten Days Out should be at the Library of Congress, and on record at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. If Kenny Wayne Shepherd never does another thing, he can still say he made an impact.
Case Logic Nylon 280-Disc CD/DVD Wallet
This nylon CD binder allows you to easily take up to 264 CDs with you wherever you go. It features a protective zippered case that houses double-sided ProSleeve pages that are specially designed to protect CD’s delicate surfaces. Thick foam padding allows for maximum protection and a built-in sturdy handle and spine make it easy to carry and store away. Customer Review: Crappy. I bought one of these to store my DVDs in and I absolutely hate it. It s built like a 3 ring binder, (the page adding feature is what made me want to buy it in the first place) but the binder rings tend to open and the pages either slip or get squished while you re flipping through the book. My husband and I finally submitted to duct taping the rings shut, and while the pages don t slip anymore they don t turn too great either. My suggestion? Pass on this one and find something without rings.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters
The poorly drawn late night cable cartoon show Aqua Teen Hunger Force and its cleverly titled movie spin-off are of course far funnier than they have any right to be. Whether the show’s audience even gets half the satire is part of its appeal (which is, like, on different levels, man). The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters soundtrack consists of skits and songs from the film along with new material. And while the absence of Frylock on the album is a bit confusing, it’s generally as top rate as the show itself. The Aqua Teen dudes even had the sense to hire the great and out-of-work old school hip-hop artist Schoolly D to compose a new version of their theme song. The Hold Steady song here is pretty decent, but the metal and rap tracks are the real meat, especially the (aforementioned) Schoolly D, Mastodon, Early Man, and Andrew W.K. tracks. Insane-o-Flex’s “I Like Your Booty (But I’m Not Gay)” is the definition of “guilty pleasure,” just like the movie itself, which is sort of about an immortal piece of exercise equipment which threatens the balance of galactic peace–”and it is up to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force to run away from it.” –Mike McGonigal Customer Review: Overall a really good listen. This CD is just plain addictive. Whether you’re looking for a hardcore song like “Cut You Up” which combines heavy riffs with amusing lyrics, or more power techno like Party Party Party or I I Like your Booty, this CD is just great to listen to whenver you need an ATHF fix.
